We spent the morning hiking in the Sandia Mountains. We got to see dazzling landscapes and intriguing natural phenomena. Among the most captivating sights were around thirty of these six-inch caterpillars, strangely congregated within a one-foot radius and nowhere else to be seen. As we continued along the trail, we encountered a sprawling field of eye-level sunflowers, alive with the hum and buzz of various flying insects. For my 08/05/23 postcard, I’ve chosen an image of a fly on one of those sunflowers.
