Our road trip led us to the Abo Ruins, where the Pueblo and Spanish colonial histories intersected and environmental transformations that shaped New Mexico’s identity were exposed. Exploring the site, now a quiet desert tableau where lizards scurry amongst the ruins, one can’t help but reflect on the vibrant activity that once permeated this place.
