My 01/20/25 postcard comes from Old Town and features the Cottonwood Madonna—Virgin of the Tree, carved into a tree behind the church in the 1970s. It was one of the city’s hidden landmarks. Because of construction at the church, the tree was cut down, and the carving moved to the front of the church. It’s easier to see now, but is no longer part of a living tree.
