While walking along the Rio Grande in the southern part of Albuquerque, I heard the unmistakable call of a killdeer before I ever saw it. The bird stood out in the open, calling loudly enough to catch my attention and draw me in for a closer look. That persistent call led me to take the shot that became my 06/26/26 postcard.
