NM 4 and NM 14 Loop with lunch in Los Alamos

Today we took at road trip to Los Alamos using NM 4. NM 4 takes you through the Jemez mountains and is one of my favorite drives.

Some of my best memories of camping, hiking and family activities happened in this area. I’ve been very fortunate to grow up with access to this astounding place. Every few miles sparks a memory, from things like cutting Christmas trees in the snow with my Dad to walking into a herd of deer with my oldest daughter on my shoulders.

I’ve got tons of pictures of Soda dam, with both of my daughters at various ages, just like I’m sure my parents have the same types of pictures of me. This place seems ageless.

The funny thing is that each time I make this trip, I seem to find something new.

We had lunch in Los Alamos at El Pasasol, it’s right next to a beautiful park across the street from the museum.

This is the guard tower standing on the outskirts of Los Alamos.

We took NM 14 back to Albuquerque, but without stopping. Why would you ever take the interstate with such a beautiful highway ready to take you to the same place.
