My 08/03/26 postcard comes from across the street from Altura Park, where I noticed this zinnia nearing the end of its season. Its petals were beginning to dry and fade, but the mix of vibrant color and weathered edges gave it a character that a perfect bloom wouldn’t have. Sometimes a flower becomes more interesting as it tells the story of where it’s been, rather than simply showing its brightest day.
