My 05/09/26 postcard features two small swallows sitting in mud nests tucked beneath the metal roof of the visitor center at Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge. The bird, building nests that cling to the steel beams, is a quiet piece of life taking hold in a man-made space. It was almost noon when we started our walk, and this was the only wildlife we saw.
