For nearly a century, the corner of Fifth and Central welcomed travelers, regulars, and generations of Albuquerque families. What began as the Coney Island Café in 1929 became Lindy’s in 1960, surviving Route 66’s golden years and countless changes downtown. Today, only the memories remain. My 07/03/26 postcard captures the final chapter as the excavator brings down a building that had quietly witnessed almost a hundred years of Albuquerque history.
